Extensions Care Tips

WASHING

To ensure the longest lifespan for your extension hair, we recommend washing your hair 1 to 2 times a week with the recommended shampoo, conditioner, and mask. Avoid washing your hair every day as this can shorten the life of your extensions. Before washing, brush out all tangles and section out each row if you have multiple rows. Wash gently as normal, being careful not to rub the ends of your hair together.

CONDITIONING

After washing, apply Davines Oi All In One Milk or Goldie Locks leave-in conditioner before drying and Oi Oil or Goldie Locks serum once dried to finish. This will allow you to wash your hair daily if needed. Only apply conditioner from mid-shaft to the end of your hair, avoiding conditioner near the top to prevent buildup. Use a brush to gently brush the conditioner through before rinsing it out, starting at the bottom and working your way to the mid-shaft to avoid tangles and ensure even product distribution.

DRYING

After showering, gently squeeze the excess water out of your hair, avoiding rubbing. Use your leave-in conditioner spray and brush to remove any remaining tangles. Before drying, ensure each row is completely brushed out from the top of the weft to the bottom. Avoid letting your extensions air dry, but if you choose to do so, make sure the top of the weft is completely dry to prevent matting and weft damage. Do not go to bed with damp or wet hair, as extension hair is naturally dry and needs extra moisture.

PRODUCTS

Choose extension-friendly hair products that are paraben and sulfate free. Use a serum/oil/leave-in conditioner from mid-shaft down daily for moisture. If you wish to use your own hair products, please check with us first to ensure they are safe for your extensions.

SLEEPING

We recommend braiding your hair or putting it in a low bun for sleeping. Avoid sleeping on your extensions while they're wet, as this can damage your natural hair and cause matting and mold. Use a silk pillowcase instead of a traditional cotton pillowcase to minimize frizz and split ends.

STYLING AND TOOLS

You can straighten and curl your hair like normal, but be sure to apply a heat protectant before using heat tools.

SWIMMING

You can swim with extensions, but take precautions to prevent damage and matting. Wet your hair before getting into the water, apply a leave-in conditioner or hair mask, braid your hair and keep it braided while swimming, and wash your hair immediately after swimming.

SUNSCREEN

Note that many sunscreen brands contain ingredients that can turn your extensions brassy. Avoid sunscreens that contain "avobenzone" as an ingredient.
